HAVING taken delivery of Renault Landers, Bermondsey based RTS Waste Management, has seen its fuel bills drop by up to half compared to their previous models.
As a result, the company has added nine new Renault Trucks to its 26-strong fleet in the last year, with two more on order.
The impressive performance of the Renault Trucks now on the fleet has seen the company begin to move away from Mercedes trucks, which it has used for a long time.
Mark Redmond, Director, RTS Waste Management, says: “The Renaults are performing much better on fuel than the other trucks on our fleet. Recent fuel figures have shown that by replacing Mercedes with the Renault Premium Landers we have almost halved our fuel costs on the dustcarts.”
Renault’s Optidriver automated gearbox has also impressed, as has the comfort and layout of the cabins.
Mark Redmond says the Optidriver gearbox makes a big difference in reducing driver fatigue – a particular issue when operating in Central London.
"This has been reflected in reduced insurance claims," he explains. "I have driven a number of the trucks myself and love the way the Renaults drive. The cab layout is comfortable, visibility is clear and it makes for a very positive driving experience.”
